Dawn

about

Arbirk is ready with a brand new single which was initially written as an homage to a former colleague whose name is also related to the title.

Gradually the lyrics for ‘Dawn’ has undergone a change through Dadaist methods, inspired by David Bowie and Thom Yorke, becoming way gloomier than how it was supposed to end up. It just happened. In many ways the song actually wrote itself and became a little forecast of the future. It was written some time before the first covid-19 lockdown but deals with topics of politics and rebellion in an isolated world.

Rasmus Arbirk tells us that the chorus “There will always be time for Dawn” has several meanings to him. It can allude directly to the person it was originally written for. But it has also taken on the meaning that darkness is not so bad a place to be because the light will shine again, but also in the sense that one does not necessarily have to hide pain, hopelessness and powerlessness, one can also choose to accept it, learn to be in it and then you can fully embrace joy and happiness when they return.

lyrics

Green gold, glittering gracefully
“Do you see me now?”
White walls, wide wondering windows
It’s a scenery
Of cherry trees
This is your charity to me

Just join, in joyful jewellery
“Would you see me now?”
Or act surprised
Weird vows, welcoming vandal eyes
So viciously
Our last decree
This failed democracy to be

There will always be time for dawn
Kill me, knowing it’s merciful
“Can you see me now?”
Don’t act surprised
No names, in national negligence
Your secrecy
Is a moral theme
Revolt will come eventually

There will always be time for dawn
