Almost Not Insane

by Arbirk

/

about

The majority of the song was written 3 years ago about an, at the time, unhealthy and very hectic relationship. When Rasmus had recorded the initial demo or sketch, it was really only meant to be a rough idea of where he wanted the song to go. But the members all ended up loving the sketch so much that they continued working on it for the finished song.

Asger Techau (Kashmir), who has mixed the final version of the song, asked for a chorus to the song which it lacked at the time. It has ended up being the backbone of the song and its identity. ‘Almost Not Alone’ is about looking back at something that once was and suddenly being able to relate again, but in new ways. Kind of like reading an old diary and not being able to fully recognize how big it must have felt at the time.

This time the band has incorporated the sounds of a Tibetan singing bowl to kick off the track and an old drum machine which makes up the beat in the song.

lyrics

Troubled eyes and a thoughtful mind is building castles in my head
Say that trust is wrong that I don’t belong and though I’ll try to let you in

What if you come nearer you might hear me

Maybe you’ll believe in me someday

Now it’s time again to pretend and defend that I’m almost not insane
And I’ll try to clean it up I’ll stay sharp and seem so tough while the cracks are building up

Notice when you’re closer I’m wide open

Maybe you’ll believe in me someday
Maybe you’ll be leaving me someday

I wrote a love song
So sorry I used you
To write a love song

Show me that you’re stronger
Because I fear that

Maybe you’ll believe in me someday
Maybe you’ll be leaving me someday

I wrote a love song
So sorry I used you
To write a love song
