Troubled eyes and a thoughtful mind is building castles in my head Say that hope is wrong that I don’t belong and though I should try to let you in What if you came nearer you might hear me Maybe you’ll believe in me someday Maybe you’ll be leaving me someday I wrote a love song So sorry I used you To write a love song Now it’s time again to pretend and defend that I’m almost not insane And I’ll try to keep it up I’ll stay sharp and seem so tough while the cracks are building up Notice when you’re closer I’m wide open Maybe you’ll believe in me someday Maybe you’ll be leaving me someday

Hold My Hand 03:40
You’re here in every song With your homemade L.C. t-shirt on I felt your smile in the concert hall Hope you’re proud because this is all for you On your clean white pillow sheet Tied to tubes filled with morphine But is there more you’d like to eat More than shitty food from vending machines Just hold my hand Holding on past twenty feet With shaking legs of pure ivory And you’re still my dancing queen Shining bright for all the world to see But it’s night and time to sleep Fill your head with fond memories Forget all that’s troubling You’ll wake up far from all this pain Just hold my hand

Dawn 03:45
Green gold, glittering gracefully “Do you see me now?” White walls, wide wondering windows It’s a scenery Of cherry trees This is your charity to me Just join, in joyful jewellery “Would you see me now?” Or act surprised Weird vows, welcoming vandal eyes Our last decree So viciously This failed democracy to be There will always be time for dawn Kill me, knowing it’s merciful “Can you see me now?” Don’t act surprised No names, in national negligence Your secrecy Is a moral theme Revolt will come eventually There will always be time for dawn

Mountaineer 03:55
Lead me away from this broken trail of life To mountain tops and open cuts of time We’ll disappear through joyous fear of growing older To see the world go under So just say the word and I’ll break the curse of us Because the bond we share will save our trust in blood And I don’t give a shit about what others think of our longing hearts revolt To me you’re all I’m here for But there’s no place for our love Disgrace and pain for our love It could be so simple My heart is so simple out here I’m your mountaineer In a world that’s upside down This world is upside down A world that’s upside down The world is upside down

Listening to the Tiber

about

The alternative rock trio Arbirk is ready with the follow-up to their debut album 'Disguises' from 2017. The new album 'Hide in Plain Sight' will be released May 20 on Celebration Records. In the time that has passed between the debut and the new album, Arbirk has embarked on a creative journey of discovery to find new ways to write and produce songs. Through expert assistance on collaborations with Simon Ask Ladekarl, Marie Hageltorn Christiansen, Asger Techau and Torben Guldager the band has evolved both lyrically and sonically with guitarist / multi-instrumentalist Daniel Buchwald acting as producer.

Arbirk's sound and expression are more widespread which is evident in the instrumental versatility that the trio brings to the front and contributes to the solid impression of originality that one gets in the encounter with this album. In addition to the conventional arsenal of instruments - guitar, synths, bass and drums - Buchwald, Rasmus & Henrik Arbirk Larsen have discovered exotic sounds bringing new instruments such as kalimba, grand piano horn, saxophone and a Tibetan singing bowl out of hiding to add sonic and intimate songs to their grandiose and intimate songs creating a suitable sense of playful curiosity about their well-crafted and beautifully arranged songs.

It has resulted in an album that is far more extrovert than the debut. Admittedly, the songs and lyrics still revolve around heavy topics like forbidden love, death, loving someone at a distance and attempts to deconstruct society's ideals and values. But they are served with a catchy appeal that grows with each listen.

“Chasing couple-dreams with cheap drinks and cocktails //
Seing all your lovely places //
Being with you made me think //
 Happiness is overrated”

'Hide in Plain Sight' is a journey that you as a listener really want to redeem a ticket for. The album takes off with a sweeping beautiful three-stage rocket in the form of the smoldering and liberating opening track 'Twoday', the hook-driven 'Almost Not Insane', where you can swim in the exquisite guitar effects, and then be touched deep in the heart of the gentle ballad and lullaby 'Hold My Hand'. Further on to 'Happiness is Overrated’, a tantalizing contrast between insistent drums and spherical sound surfaces over to 'March / April' with its subtle use of vocoder and a unique quiet-loud dynamic to 'Dawn', which also makes unique essence of itself and can almost be described as a fuzz-disco, or the most Radiohead track not released by Radiohead. The journey continues on 'Philosopher Hands', with piano, acoustic guitar and synth surfaces it oscillates between the intimate and the grandiose. An expression and mood that is also dominant on 'Broken Relations'. From here we ascend into the thin layers of air on the soaring 'Mountaineer' and reach the end of the journey by the gentle ripples of the subdued 'Listening to the Tiber’.
